  • 1 in every 15 Black men is incarcerated 1 in 3 Black men will spend time in jail during their life
  • Black youths make up two fifths of confined youth due to school-related arrests
  • 37% of Black juvenile cases are moved to criminal court
  • 58% of those cases are sent to adult prisons
  • Black women are three times more likely than white women to be incarcerated**
  • 54% of Black children are being raised by single mothers*
  • The Black youth unemployment rate is 28.2% higher than any other youth demographic

With the experiences and lessons that students learn about self-esteem, personal confidence, and success, Camp New Joy will help improve these statistics.
